Zone scanning improves efficiency
of leak detection
Systematic unmanned leak scanning prior to leak location
will ensure that leak detection operators are directed only
to locations with leak problems. This enhances efficiency
of both locating specialists and equipment.
3 in 1: Leak noise, flow and pressure logging
The ZONESCAN 400 is a multifunctional device and offers
more than any other leak noise logger. It has 5 different
signal inputs, one for a noise sensor, 2 analogue entries
e.g. for pressure measurements and 2 pulse inputs for flow
logging.
Built-in acoustic listening facility
The ZONESCAN 400 can also be used as an acoustic listening
device for leak detection. The operator can evaluate the
amplified leak sound through stereo headphones connected
to the headphone socket.
Statistical leak noise analysis determines the
presence or absence of leaks
The ZONESCAN sensor is attached to the water system and
records the water noise during a preset time period. The
statistical analysis of the recorded noise determines the
presence or absence of a leakage. A number of ZONESCAN units
strategically placed throughout a distribution zone will
detect all areas of leakage within this zone to be correlated
or be verified by ground miking.
Graphical presentation allows easy leak evaluation
The data loggers are downloaded to a PC for analysis. The
results are presented statistically and graphically as histograms
and frequency distributions to identify the leakage area.
A numeric leak indicator simplifies the interpretation of
the statistical results.
Flow measurement includes combination and bi-directional
meters
The ZONESCAN 400 can accommodate 2 pulse units simultaneously,
allowing the flow measurement of either 2 separate meters
or of combination and bi-directional meters. For each channel
the operator can define starting date and time, logging
interval and daily duration of measurement. The actual meter
reading can be keyed in. Moreover, a level for minimum consumption
can be set, above which a leak is indicated.
Pressure measurement and further analogue data
simultaneously
The 2 analogue entries can be individually programmed for
separate memorization of 2 pressure sensors or any other
analogue measuring device (e.g. temperature). For each input
channel the operator can define date and starting time,
logging interval and daily duration of the measurement.
The physical characteristics and range of signal can also
be defined. Furthermore, a level can be set for the maximum
reading, above which an alert is indicated.
Simultaneous presentation of 20 loggers for comparison
The AQUASCAN 400 software allows the simultaneous on-screen
presentation of up to 20 different leak noise loggers. This
permits the identification of the approximate location and
where to correlate the leak.
Ease of use
Both programming and interrogation by a PC do not require
special skills, nor does the installation of sensors and
loggers. They are easily attached to hydrants, gate valves,
or meter settings.
